Neil Hegarty grew up in Derry. His novels include The Jewel; and Inch Levels, which was shortlisted for the Kerry Group novel of the year award in 2017. Non-fiction titles include The Story of Ireland, which accompanies a new BBC-RTE television history of Ireland; Frost: That Was the Life That Was, a biography of David Frost; and The Secret History of our Streets, which charts the history of twentieth-century London. Neil’s short fiction and creative non-fiction have been published in the Stinging Fly, Dublin Review, Tangerine, and most recently in Queer Love: An Anthology of Irish Fiction, a new collection of LGBT writing published by Southword Editions. Neil lives in Dublin.
